Pro-Forma Financials Services
We offer both 'DFY' Done-For-You and 'DIY' Do-It-Yourself Pro-Forma Financial services, or a hybrid plan where you can combine the two types of plans to save money, but get more help than in the DIY plan.
Your financial projections are a key part of your capital raising efforts. Your potential investors almost ALWAYS know NUMBERS and the right people are always the two essential ingredients that determine whether or not they will get their money back (and possibly get a great return) if they decide to invest in you and your business. That means your numbers matter.
Please don’t fall into the trap of ignoring reality and projecting financial success … BASED on how much money you need … and then ‘massaging’ the numbers to project a great return for any investor you may meet. Most start-up financial projections or early stage pro-formas make this mistake.
For example, Company ‘A’ decides they need $10 million … and figure an investor will want a ‘5X’ return, so they build their spreadsheets to show a $50 million payout, in addition to returning the investor’s initial investment. Don’t ever forget, professional investors are virtually always SMART. Most private investors walk away from business plans when they believe you have exaggerated the numbers. You will lose all credibility.
What Financial Projections Do You Really Need?
When you begin formulating your capital-raising strategy, you need to understand your potential funding ‘target market’. If you are raising small amounts of capital and your potential returns are relatively low, but still enough for family, friends and smaller private investors, you need less, in the way of financial projections. Here, you will likely only need 5-year Cash Flow projections and Use-of-Funds statements.
If you are planning on a ‘world-changing’ billion dollar company, you will need all your financial ‘ducks-in-a-row’. This type of plan will require Balance Sheet, Income Statement, 5-year Cash Flow Pro-Forma, Use-of-Funds schedule, etc. Your ‘target’ investors will more likely be large-scale Institutional Investors, Venture Capital companies, Hedge Funds and Wall Street firms. Don’t forget, the more money you need to raise, the more hurdles you will need to jump through.
