Business Plan Services

We offer both 'DFY' Done-For-You and 'DIY' Do-It-Yourself Business Plans, or a hybrid plan where you can combine the two types of plans to save money, but get more help than in the DIY plan.

The most popular plan for most clients is our DFY Short form plan. The ‘short form’ plan has become more favored by both companies looking for funding AND private investors, in recent years. This type of plan is shorter than the full, more traditional, but much longer plan, while still highlighting the vital details that investors expect to see.

Investors are overwhelmed by wordy, overly detailed, long plans … and the sheer volume of funding requests they receive … means they don’t have the time to wade through piles of content to filter out the trash from the potential treasure. So what happens? They typically look at the first couple of pages … and if their attention is not magnetically attracted, they toss the plan. Don’t let your chance to catch the eye of a private investor end up in a dumpster.

Trust me, I worked with a BIG funding company … and they had a big dumpster out the back door … and junior associates spent about 60 seconds scanning big, fat business plans. If the biz plan did not immediately captivate them, thousands of dollars of hard work was shredded into the trash!

The New World of the 'Action' Business Plan

This new reality has led to the ‘huge’ need to include a One-Page Action Business Plan. You still need other ‘stuff’, but your Action Business Plan has the VITAL details, condensed and summarized in one page … or possibly spilling over into the top of page two. Action plans alone, won’t do the job, but it is a critical component of any type of business plan.

Now, don’t get me wrong … Big traditional funders, like Wall-Street firms, venture (vulture) capitalists, banks, etc. will still require full (long) business plans, but more and more private investors (Angels) prefer ‘Short-Form’ business plans with a One-Page Action Plan at the front.

Either group of funders will LOVE your Action Plan approach. It will make you stand out from the crowd.

The Short Form Business Plan

If you have never heard of a ‘short’ form business plan, that’s no surprise. It’s a term that I made up for a shorter, more detail-packed business plan that seems to have become far more popular over the past 15-20 years by a growing number of private investors. I wanted to find an easier way to clarify the difference between the traditional ‘full’ (long-form) business plan and this newer type.

This is not to say that the private investors you have, or find may demand a traditional plan. And other investors may ‘love’ the shorter type of plan … at first … until you have them seriously interested. Then, they still may want to see a more detailed long-style plan.

The reason we offer the ‘short-form’ plan is it is much more affordable and it takes less time to create. Also, if you are persuasive … and you let your potential investor know you are REALLY short of money, many will willingly use a short-form plan to see if they have interest in funding your company or business start-up idea. The fact is, MANY companies have been launched by entrepreneurs who have summarized their business idea and conceptual plan on a napkin, or piece of paper at a bar or restaurant.

The short form business plan will include the one-page Action plan, a more detailed, concise, but expanded Executive Summary and 5-year financial summary Pro-Forma totals. We offer this service as a ‘Done-For-You’ plan, a ‘Do-It-Yourself” plan or a a hybrid, combination of the two plans. Please contact us for more details.

Traditional Full Business Plan

We also offer full-length business plans, with detailed 5-year financial Pro-Forma projections, including cash flow, balance sheet, P&L statements, at affordable rates. We also offer this service as a ‘Done-For-You’ plan, a ‘Do-It-Yourself” plan or a a hybrid, combination of the two plans.

The ‘DFY’ plan still requires your participation, because only you have the full vision and knowledge of your company’s mission and the concepts or path you want to pursue, once your company is funded. Please contact us for more information.
